Watercolor Art Supplies
Even though it is a good idea to take care of all of a
person’s watercolor art supplies, the person who makes a special
effort to take care of the brushes will have fewer problems with trying
to use brushes that are unfit for use.
Some of the things that a person can do to protect and maintain watercolor
brushes include:
• Use judiciously – Watercolor brushes should only be used
with watercolor paints. These watercolor art supplies are manufactured
to work specifically with watercolor paint. Using these brushes with
other paints will likely not result in what a person wants to see.
• Wet the brushes – The brushes should be wet before an
artist starts painting. This will make it easier to clean the paintbrushes
once the painting session is through.
• Avoid damaging the bristles – When these watercolor art
supplies are not being used, they should be stored by lying them down
or by standing them up with the bristle end up in a cup. Placing the
bristles down will deform the brush.
• Wash with mild soap – After using these watercolor art
supplies the bristles of the paintbrush should be cleaned by wetting
the paintbrushes with lukewarm water and mild soap. Detergents should
be avoided because they can eat away at the bristles on the brush.
By following the aforementioned steps and storing the brushes in a cool,
dry place, a person is able to increase the chances that the watercolor
art supplies (like paintbrushes) they own will be able to be used for
a long time.
