Children's Art Supplies
Even though children can be artistic anywhere, it is often
better for adults if they can harness this creative energy so that the
children’s art supplies are used only in places where the mess
being made is minimal.
Perhaps the best place for a child to use children’s art supplies
is at his or her own art desk. An art desk for a child should include:
• Drawers – The drawers in an art desk should be thin and
narrow instead of big and deep. The reason for this is because most
children’s art supplies are not very big and fragile. Placing
them in large drawers only increases the likelihood that the supplies
will be misplaced or damaged.
• Large surface area – Because creativity is so important
to children, it cannot be expected that a child will be able to only
work on one project at a time. There needs to be room on the desk for
all of the children’s art supplies so that the children using
them will be able to go back and forth between projects as much as he
or she wants.
• Swivel chair – When using children’s art supplies,
children often change their perspective and point of view as they work
on their project. It is best if the chair that a child uses is able
to swivel and roll in order to help accommodate the child who is trying
to change his or her point of view as he or she finds new ways to use
the children’s art supplies.
