Art FAQs

I’m a beginner to creating and trying to sell my art. What can I do to promote my art the same way other successful artists do?

A person who wants to model his or her business plan after other successful artists can easily do so by asking these artists what they did. Thanks to the use of forums and blogs online in the art community, there are a number of successful artists who interact with others on a daily basis. Not only do they share tips and art techniques, but they also share what kinds of marketing has worked for them. The best things a person can do is join one of these forums and interact.

I have just created my favorite piece of art ever and I want to place it on my wall. What is the best way that I can do this?

The general rule of thumb when hanging art is that the center of the piece of art should be at eye level with a person. This means that the center part of the art should be somewhere between 66 and 72 inches off of the floor. A person who truly wants to be able to make an impact with the art should also surround it with smaller pieces of art that complement the main item that is being displayed.

How should I store my paintbrushes when I am not using them?

Before a person stores his or her paintbrushes, he or she should be sure to wash them off with warm water and a mild soap. This will help ensure that paint does not dry on them and render them ineffective when used next. After the paintbrushes have been washed and dried, they should be stored with the bristles facing upward. When the bristles face down, they can quickly become ineffective because they bend in a way that they should not.
